Queenstown's Coronet Peak is the South Island's most popular ski area – and with good reason. Diverse terrain, fantastic views, proximity to Queenstown and a cosmopolitan ambience create a superb winter experience for every level of snow sport enthusiast.

Over the 2010 Summer Coronet Peak has taken the final step in becoming a ski area of global quality with the replacement of the Meadows beginner chair. This will see the old 2 seater replaced by a high-speed detachable quad from Leitner Poma. The only lift of it's kind in the Southern Hemisphere, the chair will have an automated loading mat and safety-bar mechanism making it ideal environment for kids and those learning to ski and ride.

Significant earthworks will also be undertaken in the area to ensure the beginner/novice terrain compliments the new lift. In rentals we will see migration to BYS boot system as adopted by Mt Hutt last year which will enhance the rental experience for all both in terms of speed of fit out equipment quality.

Coronet Peak offers longer hours on the snow than any other ski area in New Zealand. First Tracks pass holders can access the trails at 8:00 am, while New Zealand's only night skiing is offered on Fridays and Saturdays from late June until late September.

A dedicated beginners and novice area and a vibrant freestyle scene centred around two halfpipes and a dedicated terrain park completes the mix.

Coronet Peak is home to many events throughout the winter season including the Southern Hemisphere's ultimate winter celebration, the Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival.

Access is a short 25-minute (18km) drive from Queenstown along a fully sealed road.  Full base facilities are offered including, café, brasserie, retail, an award winning Snowsports School and a licensed Siwiland Crèche. Children aged six and under ski for free.  Targeted opening date is June 11 and the season normally runs until early October.
