InterCity opens up the West Coast with Newmans

Effective October 1, Newmans Coach Lines will introduce a daily West Coast Service between Queenstown and Franz Josef. The InterCity Group (NZ) Ltd is the only national tourism operator to provide regular, daily, scheduled service on this important Queenstown - Wanaka-Fox Glacier - Franz Josef Glacier tourism route.

“This daily Newmans Service – which links with the InterCity Coachlines Service to Greymouth, and the TransAlpine train between Greymouth and Christchurch - provides visitors with frequent, reliable transportation around the Great South Island Triangle.” said Daniel Rode, Sales & Marketing Manager for the InterCity Group (NZ) Limited.

“This investment and the resulting increase in visitor flow will focus interest and attention on the region.” added Rode. “We expect strong passenger growth on this service during the coming season as both the tourism industry and our international visitors discover the ease with which they may now access the West Coast without backtracking or inconvenient transportation scheduling.” said Rode.

The Newmans Coach Lines, with full commentary sightseeing service, makes numerous stops at major attractions and sightseeing attractions en route. It operates Northbound between Queenstown and Franz Josef, stopping in Wanaka - Makarora - Haast - Fox Glacier and Franz Josef Glacier. It departs Queenstown at 8.10 am daily arriving Franz Josef at 4.20pm. Departure point: Queenstown InterCity Travel Centre , 35 Camp Street. Price: from $49

The daily Southbound sightseeing service operates between Franz Josef Glacier – Fox Glacier – Wanaka – Queenstown. It departs Franz Josef: 8.00 am daily and arrives in Queenstown at 4.10 pm. Departure point: Franz Josef Bus Stop, Main Road. Central City hotel Pick-up and Drop-off at these stops on request. Price: from $49
