Junior Ski and Snowboard World Championships

19 August 2010 - 21 days ago

Junior Ski and Snowboard World Championships HalfpipeLake Wanaka takes centre stage this winter for the world’s top junior freeskiers and snowboarders as they take part in the FIS Snowboard and Freestyle Junior World Championships on 19-31 August.

This is the first time the freeski and snowboard disciplines have been combined in a world championship and over 400 athletes aged between 13 and 20 years old are expected to take part in a spectacular display of junior sport at its best.

Snow Park NZ will host the ski and snowboard slopestyle and snowboard parallel slalom events while Cardrona Alpine Resort will stage the ski and snowboard halfpipe, ski- and snowboard-cross and snowboard big air competitions.

With some of New Zealand’s best snow sports athletes still juniors, such as freeskiers Jossi and Byron Wells, there promises to be some fierce on-snow rivalry for the podium as they compete against their international counterparts.
