Lease your skis, save money
Queenstown and Wanaka ski and snowboard retailer Outside Sports has introduced an innovative new lease programme aimed at making new gear affordable for seasonal snowsports lovers in cash-strapped times.
In a ‘first’ for the Southern Lakes, new season skis or boards can be leased for a season at a fraction of their retail cost.
People can ski or snowboard to their hearts content all winter, then decide whether to return the equipment at no additional cost, or pay a small additional amount to buy it outright.
Outside Sports General Manager Liz Cox said the skis and boards on offer were all new 2010 product from brands such as Dynastar, Atomic, K2, Rossignol, Salomon, Rome and Arbour.
“We heard about this great deal from a retailer in the US,” she said. “It basically works like a car lease, but for skis or snowboards.”
“We’d all love to have brand new ski or snowboard gear every year but it often doesn’t fit the budget, particularly in the current economic environment, so that’s why Outside Sports has responded with a ‘twist’ on traditional retail.
“We’re often asked for season rentals but this is so much better – the equipment is brand new and with a discounted buy-back option at the end of the lease it’s a real ‘win win’ for passionate snow lovers.”
Outside Sports has had dedicated snowsports departments selling high-quality equipment for more than 13 years. With expert workshop and rental facilities, they’re well known as leaders in the ski retail industry in the Southern Lakes.
There are a strictly limited numbers of skis and boards available for the leasing programme. Not all brands will be available in both stores. Terms and conditions apply.
