Queenstown Nets Commercial Law Specialist
Stephen Brent, Solicitor, opens the door to business in a bid to fill a growing need for commercial and property legal advice in the Queenstown area.
The Otago District Law Society granted Stephen approval to practice on his own account on Tuesday, 14 March and now he’s keen to advise and assist local clients using his experience and wide range of skills in specialist areas such as business transactions, property transactions, contracts, trusts, estate planning and subdivisions.
“Recent phenomenal growth of the district and the associated arrival of significant developers, businesses and companies have generated a niche for a specialist commercial and property lawyer,”Stephen says.
“The high level of business now being conducted in the Queenstown area means there’s a call for someone with a high level of commercial experience.”
Stephen has worked extensively for some of New Zealand’s largest corporates including Smiths City, Capital Properties, Masterpet, Cash Converters, Southward Engineering, Dairy InSight, WINZ, and eBet. He plans to use his “big-city” and Trans-Tasman experience, accompanied by a flexible and value-driven service, for the benefit of local businesses and individuals.
Stephen initially plans to concentrate his business around the Southern Lakes region, but will also continue to service his existing clients throughout New Zealand and Sydney.
“Although I’m setting up a fairly modest office here, what’s unique about our offering is the knowledge, insight and experience and a real ‘can-do’, fresh and personal approach.”
Stephen formerly worked in Queenstown for Macalister Todd Phillips Bodkins. He gained his law and commerce degrees from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch in 1995 and has been practising for 11 years. Prior employment was with Kensington Swan in Wellington and Duncan Cotterill in Christchurch.
