Queenstown to host TRENZ in 2011
New Zealand’s premier visitor destination, Queenstown, will play host to one of the country’s biggest international business events next year.
The tourism industry’s annual international showcase TRENZ (Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand) is to be held for the first time in the resort towards the end of May 2011.

Queenstown Lakes District Council Mayor Clive Geddes says:
“This is a significant move and a tremendous opportunity which should be taken as a real sign of confidence in this region.”
“A Queenstown-based TRENZ can only generate enormous spin-offs for this community. It’s great news.”
Destination Queenstown Chief Executive Tony Everitt says it’s a great coup for the Southern Lakes region to be afforded the opportunity to hold an event of this calibre. The Southern Lakes alliance is made up of Destination Queenstown, Lake Wanaka Tourism and Destination Fiordland.
“This is the first time we will be the host region for TRENZ and this means we can showcase the area to more than 200 international travel and tourism buyers and media in one hit,” he says.
“In total the convention should attract more than 600 people to the resort just before our winter season really kicks in.
“We are really looking forward to working with the Tourism Industry Association (TIA) and the NZ operators for next year’s event. And, I’m sure our local operators will relish being able to sell their products on their doorstep.”
TRENZ enables the country’s leading tourism operators to reach hundreds of international buyers with face-to-face business meetings in one place.
TRENZ is managed by TIA in partnership with Tourism NZ, Air NZ, Qantas, Destination Queenstown and other industry supporters.
