St James Cycle Trail to Open this Weekend

Canterbury's St James Cycle Trail opening will be celebrated at Hanmer Springs on November 20.

The 64 kilometre mountain bike trail is one of the 18 Government sponsored cycle trails on Nga Haerenga, the New Zealand Cycle Trail.

The opening begins at 10:00 am approximately 35 km from Hanmer Springs at the Maling Pass entrance car park, just before Lake Tennyson. Wet weather contingency is for the event to be held at St James Homestead.

At 11:00 am cyclists and walkers will leave Maling Pass car park, follow the cycle trail as far as they with and stop along the way at Sandy Stream, Mailing Pass, Waiau River and Lake Guyon.
