Zipline tours in the forest above Queenstown — two, four or six lines, from $119. Book at 45 Camp Street; the Kea tour finishes in town.
Ziptrek runs zipline tours through the beech forest on the Skyline gondola hill above Queenstown. You move between tree-mounted platforms with a guide launching and catching you at each one, and there is commentary along the way on the forest, local history and how the course was built without cutting anything down.
Three tours, and they differ mostly in length.
- Kererū — two lines plus a 21-metre controlled drop, about an hour. $119 for adults and youth alike.
- Moa — the original four-line course at the top of the gondola, starting low and slow and building as it goes, finishing with a short walk. One and a half to two hours. $159 adult, $129 youth.
- Kea — six lines, including what Ziptrek calls the steepest tree-to-tree zipline in the world, plus a guided walk down through native beech to finish back in town. Two and a half to three hours. $209 adult, $169 youth.
All three take ages six and up and run year-round. Rain is not a reason to cancel — the forest is arguably better in it.
