Off Road Adventures is Queenstown's 4WD touring specialist, with access to high country sheep stations, 1860s gold trails and back-country tracks most visitors never see - including several Lord of the Rings locations.
Tours run in late-model Toyota Landcruisers with forward-facing seats and a PA, so the commentary reaches everyone rather than just the front row. You can ride along, drive one of their vehicles yourself, or bring your own and follow a guide.
Trips range from a half day out of town to multi-day runs staying at remote back-country lodges and huts. They also put together corporate and group 4WD events.
The company has been operating for more than 35 years and its base is about five minutes from the town centre; bookings and check-in are at 61a Shotover Street.
