Two gravity tracks off Bob's Peak, gentle or steep, with a free chairlift back to the top. Reached by the Skyline Gondola.
Two luge tracks drop off Bob's Peak above Queenstown. The Arrow Track is the gentler of the pair, a leisurely gradient with easy bends, tunnels and dips. The Dart Track is steeper, with banked corners, cuttings and dippers, and is the one people go back for.
The carts have their own braking and steering, so you set the pace - flat out, or stopping halfway down to take a photo. A chairlift carries riders and carts back to the top between runs, which is why almost nobody buys a single ride.
You reach the luge by the Skyline Gondola from Brecon Street, a few minutes' walk from the town centre; the 480-metre ascent looks out over the lake to The Remarkables and Coronet Peak. Luge rides are sold in multi-ride packages alongside the gondola ticket. Adult fares apply from 15 years and children are 6 to 14.
A walking track also reaches the top of the luge, and the overhead bridges are a good spot to watch or photograph everyone else going past.
Opening hours change with the season, and the published closing time is the last moment you can start a run, so check before you head up.
