Off Road Adventures has been running trips out of 61a Shotover Street since 1989 — more than 35 years of taking people up off the tarmac and into the hills on the edge of town.
What's on offer
- Quad bikes — guided trips on off-road tracks above the Wakatipu.
- Self-drive buggies — take the wheel yourself, with a guide leading the way.
- Ride-along buggies — sit alongside a driver if you would rather not drive.
- Dirt bikes — for people new to it as well as riders who already know what they are doing.
- 4WD tours — a seated option with commentary, which suits mixed groups and families.
- E-bike hire — bikes to take out under your own steam.
Private and bespoke trips can be arranged, and they take conference and group bookings.
Before you go
Wear closed shoes and clothing that suits the season — it is colder up on the tops than it is down in town, and a windproof layer earns its place from about April through to October. Book ahead over Christmas, January and the school holidays.
Guided walking tours are no longer part of the programme. Everything Off Road Adventures runs now is on wheels.
