The flight from Queenstown crosses the Southern Alps into Fiordland — about 45 minutes each way, over hanging valleys, hidden alpine lakes and the tops. At the far end you join a RealNZ cruise for an hour and a half to two hours beneath the cliffs and waterfalls, with a nature guide aboard and both indoor and outdoor decks to move between. Seals, dolphins and tawaki (Fiordland crested penguins) are all regular sightings.
