Green Toad has been hiring out skis and snowboards here since 1992, aimed squarely at the budget end of the market without cutting corners on the gear. Backpackers, families and students are the regulars.
There are two shops in town: 34 Shotover Street, in Beech Tree Arcade, and 50 Stanley Street. A third store trades in Wānaka, at 6 Pembroke Mall on the waterfront behind the bakery.
Hire runs seven days through winter, 7:15am to 8:30pm — early enough to collect gear for a first-lift start at Coronet Peak or The Remarkables, and late enough to drop it back after a full day on the hill.
