The Canyons is a purpose-built country lodge on a two-hectare estate above the Shotover River canyons, four kilometres from central Queenstown but properly rural - the sunny plateau it sits on, about 100 feet above the river, was formed by the gold diggers of 150 years ago.
Now trading as The Canyons B&B, the lodge has two Superior Double rooms, each with a queen bed, an ensuite with slipper bath and a private patio facing the river valley. Guests share the lounge with its open fireplace, the wide decks and the outdoor hot tub. The whole lodge can also be taken as a holiday house for up to ten, and the grounds - gazebo, lawns and space for a marquee - are hired for weddings and elopements.
