The Boat Shed occupies the old New Zealand Railways Shipping Office at Frankton Marina — a building that has been part of the Queenstown story since the 1800s, moved to its lakeside spot in 1936 and restored as a cafe and bistro.
It is a proper marina cafe: breakfast and lunch daily from 8am, fully licensed, with the lake a few steps from the door. The Bloody Marys have a following.
It sits out of the town-centre crush on the Frankton Track, so it works well as the halfway stop on a lakeside walk or ride around the Frankton Arm.
