Lake Wakatipu cruises aboard the 1912 coal-fired steamship TSS Earnslaw, sailing from Steamer Wharf to Walter Peak. From $75.
The Earnslaw has been working Lake Wakatipu since 1912, first carrying stock and stores out to the remote stations at the head of the lake and now carrying passengers. She is one of the last coal-fired passenger steamships still running in the southern hemisphere, and locals call her the Lady of the Lake.

The farm tours, barbecue lunches, garden-to-table meals and horse treks at Walter Peak all travel across on the Earnslaw too, and run about three hours forty-five minutes in total.
There is cafe-style food and a bar on board. She is a working steamship rather than a tour boat, so allow time to look around below deck on the way over.
