Small groups, untracked snow and no queues: Southern Lakes Heliski flies from both Queenstown and Wānaka, across the Southern Alps, with a guide to each group and the day tailored to what the group can ski.
From glacier runs to gentle open faces to steep lines, the terrain is chosen on the day. Avalanche airbags are standard for every guest.
Days
- Four runs — $1,650 — the taste of it, and the usual first heliski day
- Six runs — $1,850 — for advanced intermediates with some powder under their belt
- Eight runs — $2,050 — a fast pace and serious vertical, for strong skiers and riders
Every day includes the guide, avalanche airbag and safety equipment, terrain fees, helicopter transfers and a picnic lunch on the mountain.
Beyond the day trip
Private charters take a group of up to five with a helicopter to themselves. There are premium options too — a day on the Tasman Glacier, heliski and dine, or ski and stay at Minaret Station.
