Hot, freshly baked Cookie Time cookies at 18 Camp Street, across from the Village Green. The counter turns out fresh cookies, giant milkshakes, cookies-and-cream ice cream, flavoured hot chocolates and s'mores, plus tins, gift boxes and Cookie Muncher plush toys to take home.
Cookie Time is the Christchurch company behind New Zealand's first giant chocolate chip cookies, developed by brothers Guy and Michael Mayell in 1983 — and this is one of only a handful of Cookie Bars anywhere, alongside Dunedin and Tokyo.
It keeps bar hours rather than bakery hours: open until 10.30pm every night, from 8am on weekdays and 9am at weekends, which makes it the natural post-dinner stop for something warm and sweet.
