Kinross is a cellar door, bistro and cottage accommodation on a working vineyard at 2300 Gibbston Highway, in the middle of the Gibbston wine country.
The cellar door pours five Central Otago labels — Hawkshead, High Garden, Kinross, Valli and Wild Irishman — with tastings running through the day, and there is craft beer on tap for anyone not drinking wine.
The bistro is open every day for lunch, 11am to 5pm, with last orders at 4.30pm; there is an evening takeaway menu if you order before the kitchen closes. The food is seasonal and built to sit alongside the wines — share an antipasti platter over a tasting, or take your time over something longer. Indoor and outdoor tables, and worth booking ahead for groups of more than six.
