Searchlight brews on Industrial Place, a few minutes out from the centre of town, and pours it a metre from the tanks.
The taproom runs 19 rotating taps — IPAs, pilsners, APAs, milk stouts and whatever the brewers have been experimenting with that month. Sit at the bar alongside the brewing kit, or take a table in the beer garden, where there is a fire pit for the shoulder seasons and a real fireplace inside once winter sets in. Dogs are welcome and get a water bowl and a treat. There are board games if you are settling in for the afternoon.
The hours are shorter than you might expect: Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 1pm to 8pm, Friday through to 10pm, and closed Sunday to Tuesday. Worth checking before you make the trip out.
