Podium is the restaurant inside Sudima Queenstown Five Mile, on Grant Road in Frankton — level one of the Five Mile centre, in through the hotel lobby.
It is open to anyone, not only hotel guests, and it covers the two ends of the day: breakfast from 6am, early enough to eat before a first lift or an early flight, and dinner from 4pm.
The menu is European cooking with New Zealand produce through it. Fried cauliflower and housemade focaccia to start, or beef tartare and seared scallops; then grilled sirloin or the pan-fried fish of the day with seasonal sides. There is a shiitake mushroom congee for vegetarians and a kids' menu.
The outdoor mezzanine faces The Remarkables, so ask for a table out there. Frankton is a short drive from the centre of town and close to the airport.
