Church Street bar known for teapot cocktails, burgers and a sunny beer garden. Open from 3pm Monday to Thursday, midday Friday to Sunday.
The World Bar sits on Church Street in the middle of town, best known for serving cocktails in teapots - order one and it arrives with cups to share.
It is a bar first and a kitchen second, and the kitchen is mostly about burgers: beef patties with pulled pork or manuka-smoked bacon, plus vegetarian and vegan versions, all with a pile of fries or chunky chips. Beyond that it is pub standards done properly - fish and chips, fried chicken tacos, vegan tostadas - and a long run of house-made sauces.
Inside there are sofas and a fire for a cold afternoon; out the back the beer garden catches the sun. Happy hour runs 3pm to 5pm daily, and teapot happy hour from 9pm to 10pm.
Open Monday to Thursday from 3pm and Friday to Sunday from midday, both till late.
