Swiss-Café is the restaurant at the Swiss-Belresort on Arthurs Point Road, about seven minutes' drive from the centre of Queenstown and on the road up to Coronet Peak.
Breakfast is a buffet and it starts early — hot and cold selections, bakery, international dishes and Emporio coffee, eaten by the fire. That early start is the point if you are trying to be on the mountain for the first lifts.
Evenings are à la carte: thin-based gourmet pizzas, sharing platters, gourmet salads and fresh seafood. The rib eye with fried onions and the slow-cooked lamb ragù with gnocchi, made with locally sourced meat, are what regulars come back for, and there is a beef or mushroom burger finished with grilled halloumi. The feta salad is the lighter way through.
Local craft beer and Kiwi favourites on tap in the adjoining bar, an open fire in the room, and a blueberry brûlée cheesecake to finish.
