Tham Nak Thai is on Shotover Street, in the middle of town — it moved from its old Beach Street site opposite O'Connells.
The cooking is traditional Thai with a modern hand: green curry, pad thai, garlic prawns and Thai sizzling beef are the dishes people come back for, built on fresh ingredients with proper spices and herbs. The room is smarter than the menu prices suggest, and it handles a big table well.
Lunch runs Monday to Friday, dinner every night. There is a second branch out at the Remarkables Shopping Centre in Frankton, open straight through the middle of the day, which is the easier one if you are near the airport.
