Long lunches at the Ayrburn precinct
The Woolshed is the anchor restaurant at Ayrburn, the restored 1860s farm precinct on Ayr Avenue between Lake Hayes and Arrowtown. It is the largest of the venues there and the one most people eat at. MICHELIN listed it as Selected in the 2026 guide, and it holds Qualmark Gold.
The menu runs wide - wood-fired meat and fish, pasta and risotto, burrata, sides worth ordering - and it is set up for long lunches and groups rather than quiet dinners for two. The grounds are the other half of the visit: gardens, a walk down to a waterfall, and several other bars and eateries across the site.
Open every day from 11.30am through to midnight, which makes it one of the easier bookings in the district. Fifteen minutes from Queenstown, five from Arrowtown, and there is parking on site.
