Wine bar and tasting menus on Shotover Street
Toast & Oak is up the checkered stairs off Shotover Street, on one of the original streets in town. It is wine-first — a narrow room of warm timber and moss-green tile, built to feel like a European wine bar rather than a Queenstown restaurant. MICHELIN put it in the Selected list in the 2026 guide.
You can eat à la carte or take the Expressions tasting menu. The kitchen leans on Central Otago producers and foraged native botanicals, and the menu changes often enough that there is no point memorising it. The wine list is the reason a lot of people come: unusually broad for this town, well past the obligatory Pinot, and with a lot available by the glass so a matched flight does not commit you to bottles.
Open every day. Snacks from 4pm, dinner from 5pm. It is a small room, so book.
