Sherwood sits on three acres of hillside above Frankton Road, looking across Lake Wakatipu to the Remarkables. Rooms run from lake-view kings and suites to two-bedroom apartments, family suites and twins, and the sheltered central garden, kitchen gardens and surrounding bike track give you reasons to stay put for an afternoon.
The restaurant is the drawcard. Sherwood grows much of its own produce in the kitchen gardens and cooks from what those gardens and the surrounding farms supply - it holds two hats and picked up a Michelin star in 2026. The bar keeps an ever-changing list of independent craft beers, natural wine and rare spirits.
There is a daily programme of movement classes - yoga, pilates and meditation, from about $20 a class - plus massage treatments and a regular roster of live music, film and artists in residence. Town is a five-minute drive along Frankton Road.
