Neapolitan pizza in a period building on Arrowtown's Buckingham Street - bases cooked in 90 seconds - plus pasta and Italian pastries.
Terra Mia is a Neapolitan pizzeria in a period building on Buckingham Street, in the old part of Arrowtown. Scrubbed wooden surfaces, hanging baskets and earthenware crockery — unfussy, and warm with it.
The pizzas are the reason to come. Bases are hand-stretched and cooked for about ninety seconds, which is what gives you a puffed rim and a parchment-thin middle. Toppings run from mozzarella and cured meats through to a punchy sardine, 'nduja and olive. There is pasta as well, and the kitchen imports the key Italian ingredients — pecorino, pancetta — rather than substituting.
Finish with an espresso and one of the Italian pastries, or another Italian beer.
Open from breakfast most days, with dinner Thursday to Saturday. Closed Tuesday.
