This is one of Queenstown's most popular free activities!
Disc (frisbee) golf is played much like golf. The rules are similar and there's tee-off areas and targets. Queenstown's course has 18 “holes” and frisbees are thrown at targets, usually trees or chain baskets (pole holes). You can get maps and scorecards with rules from most sports stores in town and many offer frisbee hire or sale if you don't have your own.
The game has been played in the Queenstown Gardens since the early 1980s. In 1996, this became the first permanently marked out course in New Zealand.
Please respect other people using the Gardens and avoid damage to trees and gardens. DO NOT throw if there's a chance someone might get hit. Wait until the area is clear, choose an alternative target or play that hole later. The course is monitored daily by the Queenstown Tennis Club.
