Akarua is internationally recognised as one of New Zealand’s finest wineries, having won multiple awards world-wide. Akarua joined forces with Artisan Catering, a locally recognised company run by John and Debbie Pickens to create a winning combination pairing stunning Akarua wines with Artisan flare using local and artisanal produce.
Executive Chef John Pickens & the team of chefs focus on seasonal and sustainable ingredients, sourced from local growers and South Island farmers. The kitchen philosophy is to make everything from scratch, from the slow-cooked braised beef pie, to the locally sourced seafood that goes into their famous seafood chowder.
Their lunch menu is designed to be social, so you can share plates like the Wakanui beef cheeks, or the Central Otago merino lamb oyster shoulder. Ask one of the knowledgeable staff to recommend a perfect wine pairing, and learn a little about the history of the vineyard.
