The Ledge Bungy is currently closed. AJ Hackett Bungy has it listed as closed with no reopening date announced. Their Ledge page cites staff shortages; their swings page points to construction at the Skyline site. Either way, you cannot book it at the moment. Check the current status at bungy.co.nz before you plan around it.
The Ledge Swing next to it is closed as well.
What it is, when it runs
The Ledge is the town jump. It sits at the Skyline complex on Bob's Peak, around 400 metres above Queenstown, and it is the only AJ Hackett bungy you can reach on foot from the middle of town — the gondola base is at the top of Brecon Street, five minutes' walk from the waterfront.
What sets it apart is the launch. Instead of a fixed cord and an ankle tie you go off in a full body harness from a runway, which means you can run at it, flip, or go however you like rather than toppling forwards. Below you is the whole basin: the town, Lake Whakatipu, the Remarkables across the water. It has historically run into the evening, with the lights of Queenstown underneath you.
Practical detail
From when it was last operating:
- Age: 10 and over
- Weight: between 35kg and 127kg
- How long: allow an hour and a half, including the gondola each way
- Getting there: Skyline Gondola from the top of Brecon Street. You cannot drive up, and a gondola ticket is needed on top of the jump.
AJ Hackett does not currently publish a height or price for the Ledge. Older listings elsewhere quote 47 metres, but that figure is not on the operator's own pages, so treat it as unconfirmed.
