Thanks to the Snowmaking and Grooming teams Coronet Peak will open tomorrow (Thursday, June 30) with limited beginner, novice and intermediate terrain available.
Temperatures have finally dropped enough to allow snow guns to make as much snow as possible since Monday evening. Coverage is still limited so the runs NZSki are opening will include the main M1 Trail from top to bottom, the Big Easy trail and beginners area. Base building services will include rental, snowsports school, crèche, café, coffee bar, guest services and retail. Snowmaking and grooming will continue on all trails as conditions allow in order to get the rest of the mountain open as soon as possible.
Lifts will open at 9am tomorrow and the coveted ‘First on the Lift 2011’ T-shirts will be on offer to the first four guests onto the Express Chair. The bubbles have been on ice for quite sometime now and so to be able to welcome everyone to the start of our 2011 season really deserves a bit of celebration. NZSki staff will be in the line popping the Amisfield Arcadia and they’d love to see as many of you as possible up there.
Tomorrow will also mark the start of the American Express Winter Festival on Coronet Peak. The iconic Speight’s Dog Darby will be held although on a slightly different course. On Friday the free American Honey Coronet Concert has been rescheduled to go from 1pm – 4pm and the Mountain Mayhem will run as scheduled this Saturday, July 2.
Lifts open 9am.
