Aubrey Road Work Rescheduled

The scheduled seal extension of Aubrey Road, Wanaka has been rescheduled to avoid any unnecessary inconvenience for residents and cost to the community, Queenstown Lakes District Council Wanaka operations manager Chris Hawker said.

The seal extension work was scheduled to commence from the end of September but since setting that program in place the council had commenced work identifying the potential route for the new Project Pure sewer pipe from Wanaka to Albert Town.

“There is a reasonable probability that the line will intersect Aubrey Road and we are not prepared to risk laying a new seal coat to find we have to dig it up shortly thereafter. Better to do it once and do it right,” Mr Hawker said.

QLDC had made the decision to delay the sealing works until the final alignment of the sewer line had been confirmed.

“At this stage I am not able to confirm when the seal extension will recommence although it’s hoped that the project can be completed prior to the end of the sealing season in April 2006," Mr Hawker said.

Meanwhile the council would continue to oil the unsealed section of Aubrey Road, beginning in the spring. Aubrey Road residents were encouraged to contact QLDC Engineering via the council if they had any concerns or questions.
